Largest private nursing home fined for failing to report abuse
Iowa's largest privately owned nursing home, with about 190 residents, has been fined for failing to promptly report allegations that physical and verbal nursing home abuse had occurred with one of its employees.

An Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals report says the alleged nursing home abuse at Good Shepherd Health Center Incorporated covered a period of six months or longer prior to the middle of last November. The nursing home abuse, according to co-workers, included an employee who force-fed residents to the point of choking.

Good Shepherd was issued a deficiency report by the state of Iowa for failing to report the nursing home abuse, as well as a fine of $300.
